How to buy designer streetwear resale: sizing, condition and pricing
Buying resale is different from buying current-season retail. There is one of each piece, sizing is inconsistent between houses, and the price reflects what the piece trades for today rather than what it originally retailed at. This guide explains how we grade, measure and price the pieces in the Velor archive so you can buy a second-hand designer piece with the same confidence you would buy new.
Condition grades
Every piece is graded by hand into one of four bands. We grade conservatively — if a piece sits between two grades, it gets the lower one.
- Deadstock — Never worn, as it left the shop. Tags or original box where the piece came with them.
- Excellent — Worn a handful of times. No visible flaws at arm's length; the shape and finish are intact.
- Good — Honestly worn. Light signs of use — mild sole wear, faint pilling, softened creasing — all noted and photographed.
- Fair — Character pieces. Clear wear or a specific flaw, priced well below the rest of the market for that piece.
Sizing across houses
A size 48 from an Italian house, a Japanese size 3 and a standard medium are rarely the same garment. Ignore the label and read the measurements: chest measured flat armpit-to-armpit, shoulder seam to seam, sleeve from shoulder point, and total length from the high point of the shoulder. For footwear, compare the insole length in centimetres against a shoe you already own rather than trusting the stamped EU size — trainers from the same house can run half a size apart between silhouettes. If a measurement you need is not listed, ask us and we will take it off the piece before you commit.
How resale prices are set
Resale price follows demand, scarcity, size and condition — not the original retail ticket. A mid-size in a heavily wanted silhouette can sit above retail, while an end-of-run seasonal piece in an extreme size trades well below it. We check recent completed sales for the same piece in the same grade, then price against that. Because we run a regular intake of the same silhouettes, a piece that sold out often returns in another size, so it is worth checking the archive again rather than settling for the wrong fit.
Care and delivery
Wash technical outerwear cold and hang it to dry, keep knitwear folded rather than hung, and store trainers out of direct sun. Orders ship by courier nationwide or can be collected from the studio, with shipping and returns handled at checkout.
